Q CELLS Partners With Australia’s Largest Solar, Storage And Smart Energy Event, Smart Energy Conference And Exhibition 2019
Head of Technical Marketing, Max Schurade, joins event from German R&D Technology Hub to present on Q.ANTUM technology.

The timing of the sponsorship also marks ten years since Q CELLS first entered into the Australian market, proving its dedication to Australia and showcasing its capacity to deliver strong local support as a trusted leader and innovator.

To celebrate this 10th Anniversary, Q CELLS has flown in its Director of Technical Marketing Support, Maximilian Schurade, who is also one of the engineers behind Q CELLS’ proprietary PERC technology, Q.ANTUM.
Schurade, who is based at the Q CELLS’ R&D Technology Hub in Germany, is set to speak to Australian installers at the Professional Development Installer conference stream on 3 April, discussing Q.ANTUM and Q.ANTUM DUO technology.
Speaking ahead of his presentation, Schurade believes that Q CELLS’ newest module in its range – the Q.PEAK DUO-G5, which was first launched in Australia last September – incorporates one of the highest performing and most innovative cells currently on the market. This is demonstrated by the products’ popularity throughout the Australian solar market.
Q.ANTUM DUO Innovation
The Q.PEAK DUO-G5 range consists of both a large and small format. The smaller 120-cell version is best suited for residential and smaller commercial rooftop sites, and the 144-cell format is more suitable for large commercial sites and ground-mounted solar farms. These half-cell modules, which incorporate Q.ANTUM DUO technology, are based on the passivated emitter rear contact (PERC) concept. In addition, Q.ANTUM DUO technology includes a six busbar set up that connects the cells with round wire rather than ribbon, as well as a half-cell layout. Other notable features of Q.ANTUM cell technology include Q CELLS’ unique Yield Security, which comprises Tra.Q traceable quality – a laser identification on each cell that helps protect against counterfeiting and analysing errors and improvements by tracing the entire manufacturing process; Hot Spot Protect – which ensures that our cells are free from hot spots, and Anti PID performance – which helps to ensure reliable performance over the module’s lifetime.

The Q.PEAK DUO module delivers a 6.5% higher power output compared to standard solar modules, thanks to the innovative half-cell layout, round wire connectors, and six busbars. The largest of the range, the 144 half-cell Q.PEAK DUO L-G5.2, offers a power rating of up to 400Wp.
“The first big advantage of this range of modules is the higher power output compared to a solar module with full cells,” explains Schurade. “This is the effect of the half-cell itself, as well as the different interconnection, because you reduce the resistive losses in the module.”
Schurade is also set to talk about Q CELLS’ advanced solution to suppress Light and elevated Temperature Induced Degradation (LeTID) using its Q.ANTUM cell technology.
Built for Australian Conditions
Q.ANTUM brings real benefits to the customer by offering excellent low-light behaviour as well as pioneering Anti LID (Light Induced Degradation) and Anti LeTID technology. Therefore, Q CELLS is able to guarantee that its modules are suitable for harsh Australian climates where rooftop temperatures can sometimes exceed 70 degrees Celsius during summer.
All of Q CELLS’ products, including Q.ANTUM products, are tested at the James Cook University cyclone testing station and have been proven to withstand a 1-in-500-year cyclone.
